Friends-Not the TV Show

Wendy, A terrific Internet friend for about 5 years now awarded me this:
It comes with a questionnaire to answer and then you pass it on to four friends
1. Do you have the same friends since childhood? Not really in the sense of girlfriends to do things with.as we moved so many times. It was difficult to have friends for very long and back then there was no email etc. to keep in contact. We are still in contact with the family friends we made when I was in first grade as a six year old. My classmate, Jeff Smith, died of cancer a few years ago, but I still email his mom. We have not lived next door to them since I was 13, but then when I was 14 we moved from Indiana to live near them in New Mexico. They were all there and wonderful when my dad died in 1981. We did not live in New Mexico at the time and that is where my dad had his heart attack. Mom was traveling with dad at the time. My hub and I lived in California. If it had not been for the Smith family I am not sure how we would have managed. They opened their home to us. We love this family dearly even though distance has separated us over the years.
2. What do you value most about your friends? The support they provide in trying times no matter how long it has been since we have seen each other or talked to each other. We are able to just pick up where we left off and renew our friendship as if time has been waiting for us. That is the beauty of true friendship. Also the fact that true friends really understand you and do not get angry at you over every little thing. They “really get” your difficult days and love you anyway.
3. Are your friends your sounding boards? Yes! I do depend on my friends to help me when I can not make a decision on something. They can some times put an insight on something I can not see as I am too close to the problem. Other times they just point out things I already know, but do not really want to admit.
4. What is your favorite activity to share with your friends? Eating and shopping! Is there anything else??? hehe

Wendy wrote her article on her blog on Saturday and tagged me then, but I procrastinated until today to do my post. I am glad I did too. I think God had a hand in it as yesterday’s sermon was on friends and friendship. We had Bring a Friend and lunch at our Sunday gathering so it really fits in with this meme. After all Jesus is my best friend.
The Bible has a lot to say about friends and stories on friendships. If you have never studied these just go to Bible Gateway and search friend(s) and friendship by using the keyword or phrase option.
Proverbs 27:9 (NIV)
Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one’s friend springs from his earnest counsel.
A more contemporary paraphrase states it this way:
Proverbs 27:9 (The Message) Just as lotions and fragrance give sensual delight, a sweet friendship refreshes the soul.
I am tagging
Paula, Alice, Cecilia and Chris (he will be surprised as he is my son in law)
Have a terrific day and God Bless!
